Tricholoma matsutake Gardening

Mushrooms Gardening Guide About Tim & Esther
Tricholoma matsutake or matsutake is a prized and highly sought after mushroom that grows in Japan, China, Korea, Finland, Sweden, and Pacific Northwest of North America. It is normally found growing under trees and is usually concealed under fallen leaves and duff on the forest floor, and forms a symbiotic relationship with the roots of a few species of trees. In Japan, it is commonly associated with Japanese Red Pine, and prized by Japanese for its distinct spicy-aromatic odor.

Matsutake is hard to harvest and therefore the price is very high. The price of matsutake in Japan is very much depends on the quality, availability and origin, with the price being the highest during the beginning of season.
