Serrano pepper is a variety of chili pepper of species Capsicum annuum. It is originated in the mountainous regions of Puebla and Hildago in Mexico. Unripe Serrano are green with varied color at maturity. Common ripe colors are green, red, brown, orange or yellow. It is known as sport pepper in pickled form.

Serrano pepper has crisp, bright and biting flesh, and often eaten raw or added into dishes or soups. It has a heat level of 10,000 to 25,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Unit)
