Lachenalia Gardening

Indoor Plants Gardening Guide About Tim & Esther
Lachenalia is a genus of winter- and spring-flowering bulbs in the family Hyacinthaceae, comprising 110 species with around 80 species found in Cape Town. It is native to Namibia and South Africa. Most of the species have a dormancy period and grow new roots each year. The species bears tubular or bell-shaped flowers, and some species have attractive mottled leaves.

Lachenalia species are useful as pot plants and in open borders. Propagation is by seed in autumn or by offsets. Lachenalia species grow best in sun and well-drained soil.
