Galega is a genus of herbacous flowering plant in family Fabaceae. Commonly known as Goat's Rue, French Lilac, Italian Fitch or Professor -Weed. Natives to the Middle East but has since naturalised in Europe, western Asia and western Pakistan.

Galega is widely cultivated as forage crop, ornamental, bee plant or green manure. The name galega came from gale (milk) and ega ( to bring on ). It has been used as a galactogogue (promote lactation) in domestic animals. It is also food plant for larva of Coleophora vicinella, a species of moth.

Galega is easy to grow, in sun or partial shade in moisture retentive soil. Propagation is by seed in spring or division in early spring.
