Aruncus Gardening Tips

Garden Plants About Tim & Esther

Aruncus is a herbaceous plants in the family Rosaceae. It has light green toothed and fern-like leaves. The plants can grow to 1.8m high and 1.2m across so you need to give them plenty of space. Aruncus is a good plant to grow near ponds because it likes moist soil.

There are four main types of Aruncus species. They are Aruncus dioicus (Goatsbeard), Aruncus aethusifolius (Dwarf Goatsbeard or Korean Goatsbeard), Aruncus gombalanus (Yunnan Goatsbeard) and Aruncus sylvester (Asian Goatsbeard).

Aruncus can be planted in sun or partial shade in moist soil. It can be grown from seed or dividion in autumn or spring. Aruncus is usually trouble free with Aphids being the only pest.
