Armeria Gardening Tips

Garden Plants About Tim & Esther

Armeria is a type of flowering plants. It is sometimes known as thrift or sea pink as it is found mostly by the seaside or in the wild on cliffs and mountains. There are more than a hundred species of Armeria. The plant is native to the Mediterranean but can be found throughout much of the northern hemisphere.

Armeria blooms from late spring to summer. It has erect stem with round flowerhead of either white, pink or red-purple. Cultivars are available in strong colors like white, dark red, salmon, crimson and pink-red.

Armeria like sun and well-drained soil. You can grow it by seed in spring or autumn. You can also divide it in spring or take basal cuttings in summer. Armeria is usually free from pests and diseases.
